I’m a writer but I’m also other stuff. Story guy? It’s a big tent.
12Field/Warner Bros/Paramount Plus
Animated re-enactments of some of the stupidest Sh**t from Australian history.
12Field / ABC
A lovely project to be part of - boarding on seasons three and four of this Logie-winning kids’ cartoon set in the outback.
Wizards of the Coast
Can’t wait to share this one with you. A local initiative around the beloved TTRPG whose name rhymes with Fungeons and Flagons.
Summerfall Studios/Humble Games
An ambitious interactive musical project which was a total brain-stretch to try and put together. Involves the talents of Austin Wintory, Troy Baker and Laura Bailey, as well as the other gents from Tripod. Winner: AGDA awards, Game of the Year, Best Music; Nominee: Grammy, Best Music for a Game or Interactive Experience.
This is probably what I’m best known for in my home town - a comedy band who has toured the world doing telly, radio, live comedy, musicals, you name it. More at 3pod.com.au .
Melbourne Planetarium, Scienceworks
An animated story designed to teach pre-schoolers about the wonders of the universe. Specifically the tale of a dog who goes to Mars. I also wrote the songs.
Cartoon Network / Vaibhav Studios
I worked on season three of this Emmy nominated animated slapstick show. Episodes are 2 and 5 minutes. Global release. Two scientists chase an orange blob who has escaped the lab.
Museum of Discovery, Adelaide / Monkeystack Studios
Sci-Fi-themed interactive exhibition exploring ideas around “consent”. Audiences travel through the innards of a flamboyant spaceship. There’s certain places they aren’t allowed to go. A strange and dreamlike piece of interactive learning for the Adelaidians.
Cartoon Network / Bogan Entertainment / Studio Moshi
11 minute animated series for middle-grade. A beach where monsters surf and have dumb adventures. I wrote a bunch of the eps.
Trimoo Qatar / Monkeystack Studios
An ambitious theme-park project in Qatar, where children arrive on a thriving space station and are taken on an adventure to find their role and skillset in the community. Based on the educational principles of “20th Century Skills” and “Growth Mindset Learning”. Learned a lot myself.
Tiger Tribe
This is a how-to-draw book for littlies. It’s a little set that comes with a book, a pad, a pen and some pencils… it’s cute as a button.
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra / Tripod
As part of a celebration of the life of Leonard Bernstein, this show was a comical take on Bernstein’s lecture “Humor in Music”, teaching fundamental principles of music to school audiences.
Centre for the History of Emotions / Queen Mary University / Monkeystack Studios
Development and vertical-slice execution of a puzzle-infused walkemup for console set aboard a sentient, schizophrenic spacecraft. Designed to explore the idea that our emotional landscape is very connected to the time we were born into. Very interested in challenging the idea that logic and emotions are separate functions.
Ubisoft Montreal / Tripod
If you walk into a London Pub in this Victorian-themed instalment of the global console phenomenon, you’ll hear a mixture of authentic Victorian folk tunes, and some original songs that follow the exploits of the protagonist. I wrote those original ones with my band Tripod.
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra / Austin Wintory / Tripod
Another collaboration with feted games composer Austin Wintory (Journey), this was an entirely original orchestral song-cycle about a friendship forged through a mutual love of games. Also a comedy.
Cartoon Network / Bogan Entertainment
I was a screenwriter on this sci-fi adventure comedy. 27 minute episodes for young audiences. Fun fact - I was also a voice actor on it; I played the inexplicably Australian Principal Rogerson.
Cartoon Network / Bogan Entertainment
A browser-based card game tie in to the Exchange Student Zero property. As well as getting the game design process rolling, I wrote all the gags for the card text. That’s a lot of spreadsheet work right there.
Transmission Games / Ubisoft
My first game-writing job - I wrote the story and game dialogue of Tom Forrester, a fighter pilot in the Blitz. Depressing topic. Fun gig.
Roving Enterprises / Network Ten
I worked on a bunch of seasons of this Australian sketch comedy show - both as a writer of sketches, and songwriter (with Tripod) for the different comedy song each week that would run under the credits.
